To the Editor:
Your Out & About column of Sept. 30 by Donna Wilson, “Visit to Pool’s Island a link to father’s past,” is a well-written commentary encompassing memories of the past and memories for the future. Her article reflects on hardship and sorrow, laughter and love and friendships and family.
Like the writer’s Dad, I also call Pool’s Island, Newfoundland, home and I sincerely appreciate that someone from the other side of Canada can visit there and come away with a lasting impression of how things “used to be” and how things “are.” In meeting old friends and making new friends, Donna Wilson captured the pride and love of a place that, no matter how far we roam or what age we reach, we’ll always call home.
Thank you for a great article.
