Barbara “Barb” Elaine Hart
Barbara Hart peacefully left this world on the morning of Thursday, September 20, 2018, at Brandon General Hospital with her children, Michele and Chris, by her side. She leaves to mourn her husband Ron Hart, daughter Michele Hanson (Keith), granddaughters Brianne and Kendra, son Chris Hennessey, sisters Betty (Ned) and Peggy (Walt), and brothers Milton (Ruby) and Bryant (Edna). She is predeceased by her first husband Paul Hennessey, her parents Bert and Violet, brothers Bert and Harvey and sisters Violet and Ada.
Barb was born in Deer Lake, Newfoundland, on April 12, 1943. She later met her first husband Paul Hennessey and they wed on February 4, 1967. Their first child Michele was born on September 15, 1967 and then their son Chris came along on November 4, 1971. They later moved to Thompson, Manitoba where Paul started his career at Inco and Barb started working at Campbell North. Barb later started a career with Manitoba Hydro and that is where she worked until she retired. Barb’s husband Paul was diagnosed with cancer in late 1984 and passed quickly thereafter in February of 1985. Barb and Paul’s granddaughter Brianne was born in March of 1995 and Kendra came along in May of 1997. Barb’s granddaughters meant the absolute world to her and she cherished every moment she spent with them babysitting and having sleepovers. Barb later met Ron in May of 1997 and they married in April of 1999. They retired in Brandon and have lived there ever since.
Barb was very active in the Lion’s Club and devoted most of her time to her kids and her granddaughters. She enjoyed travelling and actually visited Europe one summer. Ron and Barb travelled all over Canada and the United States as well as some other tropical places and actually became snow birds in Mesa, Arizona for a few winters. Barb also introduced Ron to her home roots in Newfoundland and he quickly fell in love with the culture and the people. They travelled there many summers.
Barb will be sadly missed by all of her family and friends. Donations in memory of Barb can be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Manitoba, Unit 4B, 457-9th Street, Brandon, Manitoba, R7A 1K2.
