Northeast region conservation officers seized 122 walleye in late June from four Oklahoma fishers who pleaded guilty to several charges and were fined $7,000.

More than 100 walleye were seized by Manitoba conservation officers in Lynn Lake in late June.

A northeast region conservation officer found that a man and woman from Oklahoma had 26 walleye in their possession, including four that exceeded the maximum length of 55 centimetres, while conducting a recreational fishery stop.

Further investigation led conservation officers to speak with two more men from Oklahoma at a Lynn Lake residence, where 13 packages of frozen fillets were discovered.

Overall, 122 walleye were seized and several charges laid. All four of the visitors pleaded guilty and were assessed a total of $6,992 in fines and restitution.

The seized fish were donated to residents of Marcel Colomb Cree Nation.
