Manitoba reported 44 new cases of COVID-19 July 21 and removed 11 previously announced cases due to data corrections for a net increase of 33 cases from yesterday.
Sixteen of the cases were in Winnipeg, 12 were in the Interlake-Eastern health region, 11 in the southern region, three were in the north and two were in the Prairie Mountain health region.
The north actually reported five new cases – including two in The Pas/Opaskwyak/Kelsey health district and one each in the Shamattawa/York Factory/Tataskweyak/Split Lake, Cross Lake/Pimicakamak and Sayisi Dene/Tadoule./Barren Lands/Brochet/Northlands/Lac Brochet health districts. The region’s total only increased by three because previously two previously reported cases were removed, according to data on the provincial government’s COVID-19 website.
One more Manitoban has died as a result of the virus, taking the total number of deaths in the province since the pandemic began to 1,166.
There are 105 Manitobans in hospital due to COVID-19, including 29 in intensive care. Four of those in hospital are from the north and one of them is in intensive care.
The five-day test positivity rate July 21 was 3.5 per cent.
