Handcuffed prisoner escapes RCMP custody in Lynn Lake, turns himself in two days later

A handcuffed man who escaped police custody in Lynn Lake Aug. 7 was arrested Aug. 9 while still wearing the handcuffs.

A handcuffed man who escaped police custody in Lynn Lake Aug. 7 was arrested Aug. 9 while still wearing the handcuffs.

Daryle Richard Johnson, 46,  ran off into the woods after being led out of the Lynn Lake RCMP detachment for transport to Leaf Rapids. Officers pursued him but lost sight of him and were unable to locate the fugitive.

Officers were notified around 10 p.m. Aug. 9 that Johnson wished to run himself in. Police attended a church in Lynn Lake and Johnson was arrested without incident. RCMP say he will be remanded into custody today on an additional charged of being unlawfully at large.
