A 34-year-old Flin Flon man has been arrested and charged with 11 offences including sexual assault, sexual interference and sexual exploitation in connection with incidents that allegedly occurred while he was living in Snow Lake.

Daniel Hughes was arrested Aug. 30 and has been released with numerous court-imposed conditions pending his next court appearance.

The investigation was launched Aug. 8 when an adult male told Snow Lake RCMP the name of a person he said had sexually assaulted him when he was a child in Snow Lake between 2004 and 2012. During the investigation, a second adult male told police he had been sexually abused by the same suspect in the same time period.

Hughes lived in Snow Lake until 2016 and then moved to Flin Flon. He was employed from 2016 to early 2019 as a house parent responsible for supervising children in residence at Frontier Collegiate Institute in Cranberry Portage.

Police are concerned that there may be additional victims and ask anyone who may have been a victim or who has information to contact Snow Lake RCMP at 204-358-7723 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477. Tips can also be submitted online at www.manitobacrimestoppers.com.

The RCMP has also partnered with Klinic Community Health, which can accept reports from sexual assault survivors over the age of 16 anywhere in Manitoba.
