Active COVID cases in Northern Manitoba limited to three health districts

Only three Northern Manitoba health districts were still reporting active COVID-19 cases July 22 and the total number of active cases in the region is down to 55.

There were four new infections reported in the north on Thursday, all in The Pas/Opaskwayak/Kelsey health district, which has has the most active cases in the region with 24. 

Provincewide, 56 new COVID cases were announced July 22, including 22 in Winnipeg, 14 in the Interlake-Eastern health region, 13 in the southern health region and three in the Prairie Mountain health region.

The five-day test positivity rate was 3.3 per cent and there were 105 Manitobans in hospital due to the virus, 28 of them in intensive care. Four northern residents are in hospital due to COVID, one of whom is in intensive care.

One new death resulting from COVID-19 was announced on Thursday. 1,167 Manitobans have died from their infections since the pandemic began.
