Woman faces charges after bottle-smashing rampage at Thompson Liquor Mart July 15

A 22-year-old Thompson woman who went on an angry, bottle-smashing rampage at the Thompson Liquor Mart July 15, tearing down an entire display shelf in the process, faces multiples charges related to the incident, Thompson RCMP say.

A video captured by another customer in the store at the time, which has been viewed more than 24,000 times as of 5 p.m. Wednesday, shows the woman sweeping small bottles of liquor off a shelf near where customers line up to pay for their purchases as security tries to escort her out of the store. She then grabs the shelf from the cashier side and shakes it back and forth, knocking down merchandise and ultimately, the shelf itself.

Police were called to the scene around noon and arrested the woman, who will appear in court on the related charges at a later date.

A Liquor Mart representative declined to comment on the incident, except to say that staff notified the RCMP.
