Wolf pups photographed near Thompson

These two wolf pups were photographed along Highway 391 about 10 minutes outside of Thompson in the early evening Aug. 3. The photographer, Jack Young, was heading back to Nelson House with family members after a shopping trip to Thompson when they spotted an adult wolf at the side of the road. They stopped their vehicle to take a look at the wolf and then continued on their way for two kilometres until they spotted four small figures in the middle of the road that turned out to be wolf pups.

“As we got close they ran back into the bush,” Young told the Thompson Citizen in a Facebook message. “We stopped and then the first wolf pup came out, then the second one came out but the other two just sat there in the bush but still visible. In the distance the mother wolf was running towards us and the pups so then we just drove away after we got a good couple of pictures of the two that came out, before the mother got close.”
