From July 2-4, 10 students from Thompson attended a welding camp hosted by Skills Canada Manitoba, practising welding skills and engaging with other youth who have similar interests.

R.D. Parker Collegiate welding teacher Alain Aube oversaw the camp, which was held on school premises thanks to a partnership between Skills Canada Manitoba and the high school. Students in Grade 7 and Grade 10 from both the School District of Mystery Lake and La Voie du Nord were in attendance.

This event was also supported by Vale.

Skills Canada Manitoba is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting careers in trades and technology.
