Water treatment plant transfer agreement signed at City Hall ceremony

After considerable deliberation, Thompson Mayor Dennis Fenske hosted an official signing of the agreement formalizing the transfer of the water treatment lant from Vale to the City of Thompson over the next three years.

After considerable deliberation, Thompson Mayor Dennis Fenske hosted an official signing of the agreement formalizing the transfer of the water treatment lant from Vale to the City of Thompson over the next three years.

Fenske described the signing as “historic” and thanked city staff for the long hours contributed to the project. He reminded attendees of Thompson’s reputation for fine municipal water, and assured that its water quality would be retained.

Vale Manitoba Operations vice-president Mark Scott noted that the signing was critical to the future of Thompson. “We know this is the right thing to do, to prepare for the transition in 2018, and and ultimately ensure long-term sustainability for our community.
