A 24-year-old man was charged with manslaughter Sept. 1 after a 22-year-old man was found dead outside an abandoned building in Thompson Aug. 30.

Bryan Roulette, 24, from Split Lake was charged with manslaughter Sept. 1 in connection with the Aug. 30 death of a 22-year-old man in Thompson.

Roulette had previously been charged with assault causing bodily harm and remains in custody pending a scheduled appearance in Thompson provincial court Sept. 4.

Police were dispatched to the corner of an abandoned building on Cree Road (between Public Lane and Hemlock Crescent) around 6:40 a.m. Aug. 30 where they found a male, who was not breathing and showed signs of trauma. Paramedics arrived and the man was pronounced dead.

Roulette and the victim, who was also from Split Lake, knew each other, said Thompson RCMP, who continue to investigate along with RCMP Forensic Identification Services.

This is Thompson’s second homicide of 2018. An April 21 incident at the Burntwood Hotel resulted in the death of a 35-year-old man. Four people were charged with second-degree murder in relation to that killing.
