Thompson residents tied red ribbons on the guardrail of the Miles Hart Bridge Dec. 21 to remember loved ones who have been murdered or gone missing, with RCMP on hand to ensure everyone’s safety. Bobbi Montean read the following poem – “Red Ribbons” by Reginald Mercredi – during the event: “The spirit is in the air/ The red ribbons are calling you home/ So graceful blowing in the wind/ Nobody should ever go missing/ A reminder to tie a red ribbon for an angel/ The hope to follow the red ribbons home/ Home is where your loving family are waiting/ Red ribbons of honour/ She once tied her pigtails with red ribbons now she went missing/Red ribbons tied to the bridge blowing in the wind/ Can you hear the whispers please come home/ My memories are so beautiful/ Red ribbons a path home”
