Thompson RCMP issued more than 50 traffic tickets in a five-day period Jan. 4-8, including 24 to people driving unregistered vehicles.

Other tickets included six for driving without a valid driver’s licence. One of the drivers issued such a ticket was a 38-year-old woman from Thompson who was pulled over around 8:15 p.m. Jan. 6. The woman is prohibited from driving anywhere in Canada and was arrested to face additional charges including driving while suspended and driving without an alcohol ignition afterlock. She was released to appear in court at a later date.

RCMP also handed out four tickets each for driving with a suspended driver’s licence, not wearing a seatbelt, not having children in child seats or booster seats and using cell phones while driving. Two speeding tickets and two tickets for failing to stop at a stop sign were also handed out, along with one ticket for an unsecured load.

A 24-year-old Thompson man pulled over around 2:30 p.m Jan. 4 turned out to have a warrant for his arrest and was remanded into custody.
