R.D. Parker Collegiate students who stood out academically in Grade 9, Grade 10 and Grade 11 last year were recognized at the school’s annual honour roll night Nov. 15.

Students with an average of between 80 and 84.99 per cent were recognized with honours while those with averages of 85 per cent or higher received honours with distinction.

“It’s not easy to get honours or honours with distinction in our school and congratulations to one and all,” said principal Rob Fisher.

Top competitors in the University of Waterloo math contest were also recognized at the ceremony. The top three Grade 10 students from RDPC collectively placed fifth in their zone and the top three Grade 9 students were seventh and in the top half of all schools in Manitoba. The top Grade 9 student was Keira Milligan, who earned the Pascal Award for her achievement and only missed finishing among the top 25 per cent of the 27,000 Canadian students who wrote the test by a single mark.

Students who served as guides for the Anne Frank exhibit that was on display at RDPC in October were presented with their training certificates and School District of Mystery Lake trustees Don Macdonald and Saima Aziz handed out the trustee’s awards.

“There is no one who worked as hard as you did in the last year,” Aziz told the students at the award ceremony. “Please keep it up and say great thanks to all your teachers, the principal, all the staff and your parents who helped you out.”
