Tim Hortons donated the proceeds from their Smile cookie campaign in late September to the Thompson General Hospital Dec. 13.
A cheque for $2,381 from general manager Upendra Patel was accepted by the Northern Regional Health Authority’s executive director of clinical services Craig Hillier, who said the money might be used in the pediatric in-patient area of the hospital for distraction boxes to occupy children’s attention when they are getting needles or undergoing procedures, or perhaps for child-sized tables for patients to sit at while they colour or eat, though no decisions have been made yet.
“Hopefully next year we’re planning something bigger than this,” said Patel, noting that this is the first Smile cookie campaign in Thompson since new owners took over the franchise last year.
