An 18-year-old female and three male youth aged 13, 15 and 17 were arrested June 19 after a man was stabbed and robbed outside a gas station on Thompson Drive South.
Thompson RCMP were dispatched to the robbery around 11:35 p.m. and transported the victim to Thompson General Hospital in stable condition with multiple stab wounds. The four suspects were quickly identified by police and arrested. They face charges including robbery and failing to comply with court orders.
This violent incident was in contrast to a spate of violence earlier in June, including four serious assaults in the space of three days, which mainly involved adults.
“We had two aggravated assaults on June 3 and two on June 5 so lots of violence in the downtown area mainly involving adults, the opposite of last year where it was involving the youth,” Thompson RCMP acting officer-in-charged Staff Sgt. Chris Hastie told the city’s public safety committee at their June 11 meeting.
