Two drivers were charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and one with refusing to provide a breath sample during the first week of the 2018 holiday check stop program in Thompson last week.

There were also two $298 fines issued for failing to wear a seatbelt and numerous other Highway Traffic Act offences, including speeding, using a handheld electronic device and driving an unregistered vehicle.

Twenty-five vehicles were checked during the first week of the check stop program.

“As we head into the holiday season, plan ahead,” said a Dec. 10 Thompson RCMP press release. “Make the decision to not drive while impaired, choose a designated driver or use Operation Red Nose to get home safely.”
