Thompson RCMP took two impaired drivers off the road within the space of an hour Jan. 24, one of them behind the wheel of an unregistered vehicle.

RCMP on patrol on Seal Road around 9 p.m. Friday stopped an unregistered vehicle. The driver, a 24-year-old man from Thompson, was suspected of being impaired by alcohol and later provided breath samples that were more than twice the legal limit of .08 blood alcohol content. He was released on a promise to appear in court at a later date.

Just before 10 p.m., a suspicious vehicle on Elk Bay was reported to police. Officers attended and located the vehicle with a man inside. Attending officers determined that the man had consumed alcohol and his breath sample registered as a warning on a roadside screening device so he was issued a 72-hour driving suspension in accordance with recently passed provincial legislation.
