On May 8, the recently renovated Thompson McDonald’s hosted its very first McHappy Day since reopening its doors to the public eight months ago.

By taking a dollar from every Big Mac, Happy Meal and McCafébeverage sold throughout this 24-hour period, the restaurant ended up raising $8,000 for Ronald McDonald House, a considerable step up over last year.

The store only generated $3,500 in charitable donations in 2018, although part of that has to do with the fact the building was going to be shut down for demolition 11 days later.

Wednesday’s patrons also contributed to this grand total by entering their names into a draw to win a variety of prizes, including free coffee for a year, a Bradley 4-Rack Digital Smoker and a PlayStation 4.
