The School District of Mystery Lake (SDML) says the minister of education is now encouraging parents to keep children home from school if possible for the rest of the week due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The province announced last week that classes would be suspended for three weeks beginning March 23.

Classes missed for the remainder of this week will not be formally marked on student records and any examinations or assignments scheduled for this week will not affect student grades, SDML said.

The Manitoba Teachers’ Society called on the province earlier this week to suspend classes immediately, rather than waiting until next Monday.
