Taxi driver almost stabbed by suspect described as being three feet tall

Thompson RCMP responded to a pair of calls involving cabs Jan. 12, including an incident in which a taxi driver reported almost being stabbed by a diminutive youth suspect.

Police received the complaint about the near-stabbing, which occurred at the Burntwood Hotel, around 2 a.m. Sunday morning. The suspect was located by hotel security prior to RCMP arriving but managed to flee. He was described as wearing camouflage pants, a grey sweater and a black vest jacket. Police were told the suspect was three feet tall and approximately 100 pounds. The taxi driver was not injured during the incident.

Around 6 p.m. Sunday evening, a taxi driver reported that a man jumped on top of the vehicle while it was parked at a residence on Westwood Drive. The man, described as wearing a white jacket and black pants, proceeded to smash the windshield of the taxi. The driver was not injured.
