The two community meetings with seniors and those interested in seniors’ affairs in October resulted in the formalization of the committee that organized the sessions into the Thompson Seniors Committee. The interim executive includes Linda Dearman as chair, Rose Ross as secretary and co-ordinating volunteers Evelyn and Lone Wood taking responsibility for agency contact and Melanie Kelly overseeing contacts. Contact with the committee at this point is primarily through the e-mail address, thethompsonseniors@shaw.ca or in person at the Wednesday afternoon drop-In for seniors at Rotary Place.

Another community meeting is planned for the middle of January to report on follow-up to the suggestions brought up at the October meetings and invite further input from the community. In the meantime, the need for a place to meet and socialize informally is being met by the Wednesday afternoon drop-In at Rotary Place at 424 Westwood Drive, hosted by the Rotary Place residents and sponsored by the Rotary Club. All seniors 55 and older are welcome.
