R.D. Parker Collegiate principal Bonnie Rempel notified parents of students April 25 that the high school would be switching to online learning only for a period of at least two weeks beginning April 26 and continuing through May 7.

The announcement came along with a notification letter about a possible exposure to COVID-19 at the high school, the third such letter in three days.

“This decision has been made out of an abundance of caution and it goes without saying that the staff of RDPC are still committed to the safety and overall well-being of your children,” Rempel wrote.

An April 23 notification letter from public health said that someone in the A-K cohort with a confirmed case of COVID-19 was in the school April 13 and April 19 when they may have been infectious. An email from Rempel to parents that the letter was attached to said two people with confirmed cases were in the school on those dates.

A letter sent out the following day said that at least one person with a confirmed case was in the school April 19-21 when they may have been infectious. Sunday’s letter said someone with a confirmed case in the A-K cohort was in the school April 19 when they may have been infectious.
