A fire that filled the R.D. Parker Collegiate cafeteria with smoke resulted in the school being evacuated Nov. 24.

The fire occurred around 2 p.m. and resulted in Thompson Fire & Emergency Services (TFES) attending the high school.

Staff and students were not allowed back into the school on Wednesday while the maintenance department tried to determine what cause the fire. Online classes proceeded as scheduled Nov. 25 but in-person classes for Pathways and IDEAL students were cancelled. TFES confirmed Nov. 25 that the building is safe for staff and students to return to regularly scheduled in-class learning for Pathways and IDEAL students as well as students whose last names begin with L through Z.
