Thompson RCMP continue to apprehend drivers who are behind the wheel while intoxicated.

Thompson RCMP responding to a report of a vehicle in the ditch near Popeye’s restaurant by the Miles Hart Bridge around 1 a.m. July 5 arrested two people on suspicion of impaired driving. One was a 33-year-old man and the other was a 30-year-old woman, both of whom are from Thompson. The man later provided breath samples more than two-and-a-half times higher than the legal limit of blood alcohol content while operating a motor vehicle. The woman’s breath samples were more than 1.5 times the legal limit. Bother were released to appear in court at a later date.

Two days earlier, around 4:15 a.m. a late night munchies craving led to an impaired driving arrest. Thompson RCMP received a report of a suspected impaired driver in the drive-thru of a fast-food restaurant on Thompson Drive. They attended and arrested a 33-year-old Leaf Rapids man on suspicion of impaired driving. He later provided breath samples three times higher than the legal limit and was released to appear in court at a later date.
