Manitoba RCMP’s underwater recovery team and Thompson RCMP lent their efforts Sept. 29 to the search for missing woman Dianne Bignell, who was last seen in May.
RCMP officers conducted a sonar search of the Burntwood River as part of the latest effort to find the 60-year-old, who was last seen in the Juniper Drive area around 8:30 a.m. May 17 and reported missing on the afternoon of May 20.
The latest search was organized by Manitoba Keewatinowi Okimakanak (MKO) and led by Ivan Hart and Wilson Moore, who are both trained and experienced in search and rescue techniques. Manitoba Hydro also assisted the search effort.
It follows a similar search organized by MKO in August.
“It took me 89 days to get the help I needed, but I’m actually happy to see everybody out here today to help me and I hope to get answers today,” said Bignell’s daughter Clara at that time. “I want to bring my mom home … no matter how long it takes. Even if they call off the search, for whatever reason, I’m still going to keep going.”
Clara said in early June, after two-and-a-half weeks of daily searching from morning to nightfall, that it wasn’t like her mother to be out of touch for so long.
