Manitoba reported 13 new positive tests for COVID-19 Sept. 2, eight of them in the Prairie Mountain health region.

There were also four new cases in Winnipeg and one new case in the southern health region.

The number of new daily cases is the lowest it has been since Aug. 17. There have now been 1,244 cases of COVID-19 in Manitoba since the pandemic began, 454 of which are considered active. 776 people have recovered from their COVID-19 infections to date and the number of deaths due to the virus in Manitoba remains at 14.

A total of 1,584 tests for the novel coronavirus were completed Sept. 1 and 139,643 Manitobans have been tested for the virus since early February.

Manitoba public health continues to remind the province’s residents to stay home when feeling ill, to practise good hand hygiene, to cover coughs and sneezes, to practise physical distancing around people other than members of your household when possible and to wear a non-medical mask when physical distancing isn’t possible.

Only people with COVID-19 symptoms should seek testing unless recommended to by public health. Testing should occur as soon as possible once symptoms are present.
