The Nisichawayasihk Cree Nation (NCN) Flames, a new team competing in the Keystone Junior Hockey league for the first time this season, beat the Cross Lake Islanders 9-6 at NCN’s Gilbert McDonald Arena Oct. 4 and 10-1 in Cross Lake the following day. The Flames kick off their regular season with a pair of road games in Peguis First Nation Oct. 12-13 and play their home openers Oct. 18 at the C.A. Nesbitt Arena in Thompson and Oct. 19 in NCN.
