Apparently responding to safety concerns expressed on local Facebook discussion group Thompson Talk as a result of recent violent incidents, Nickel Days announced June 13 that there will be an increased number of RCMP officers and private security guards during this year’s even June 20-23.
Select Shows, which provides midway games and rides, will also have on-site security.
“Nickel Days has been working closely with the RCMP to ensure that all event times are shared,” said the Facebook post. “The Nickel Days board of directors have been working diligently to bring you a safe and fun event. It is imperative that we all do our part in the community to make that happen.”
