After four days of hosting barbecues, paint parties and stress presentations, the Canadian Mental Health Association in Thompson closed out their Mental Health Awareness Week festivities by showcasing some local musical talent just outside of City Hall May 11.

This event featured the hip-hop stylings of Poetry in Motion and Cristo J. Wilson (AKA CJ The Grey), who both touched on issues related to depression, anxiety, addiction and suicide through their original music.

Singer Brendan Rhodes also made an appearance and performed a variety of hit country songs, including “Humble and Kind” by Tim McGraw.

This concert marked the first outdoor concert event of the season, and the first to ever feature the city’s new stage canopy, one of several MacLean Park improvements that began in 2009.
