R.D. Parker Collegiate heavy duty and automotive power mechanics students take a break from their classes June 6 to pose next a semi-truck donated to the school by Manitoulin Transport.

Last week, Manitoulin Transport sold one of their semi-trucks worth $10,000 to R.D. Parker Collegiate for $1.

“I grew up here, I went to R.D. Parker, so it felt right to give back,” said Manitoulin’s Thompson terminal manager Frank Robinson, who helped facilitate this donation.

On June 6, RDPC power mechanics teacher Mick Slack told the Thompson Citizen that this new acquisition will give his heavy duty and automotive students the opportunity to perform a variety of new projects and enhance their knowledge of the transport industry.

“This is what we’ve been looking for for about a couple years now, and it’s great that Manitoulin stepped up,” he said.
