Man charged with kidnapping, car theft after stealing truck with youth inside it outside store

A 34-year-old man is facing kidnapping, robbery and car theft charges after a truck with a 14-year-old female inside it was stolen May 22.

Thompson RCMP received the report of the vehicle with the youth inside it being stolen around 3 p.m. Friday. The person who took the car, which was parked and running outside Shopper’s Drug Mart, drove a short distance and then dropped the 14-year-old off at the side of the road unharmed.

With the assistance of On-Star, police found the truck on Laval Place and heard from multiple witnesses that the person driving it had entered one of the apartment buildings. While a police dog was searching the building, the suspect came out a window of the building and was arrested.

Troy Jack Cameron McIvor of Thompson and Wabowden faces kidnapping, robbery and theft of motor vehicle charges.
