Man brandishing knife at police officer, youth chasing cars with a machete arrested Sept. 16

One adult and one teenager were arrested Sept. 16 following separate incidents involving suspects brandishing knives.

The first arrest occurred around 2 p.m. Wednesday when a Thompson RCMP officer on patrol was approached by an intoxicated man holding a dagger-style knife near a business on Thompson Drive. The officer de-escalated the situation and convinced the man to drop the knife, at which point he was arrested without incident. A 29-year-old man faces a charge of possessing a weapon dangerous to the public peace in connection with this incident.

Around 10:20 p.m., police received a report of a person chasing cars while wielding a machete on Princeton Drive. Responding officers located an intoxicated 14-year-old male with a knife. The youth was arrested and faces multiple charges including possessing a weapon dangerous to the public peace, carrying a concealed weapon and breaching court orders.
