Thompson's YBC bowling program received a $2,000 donation from the Legion Ladies Auxiliary Sept. 13.

The money will be used to buy new bowling balls for use by the club members, said YBC program director Lindsay Jacobs, which can run as much as $200 to $250 a pair. This donation will ensure that younger bowlers will have balls that they can bowl with one-handed, and using bowling balls without any chips will likely lead to improved aiming and better scores, she said.

"The kids are just going to be fantastically happy," said Jacobs.

YBC bowlers helped out at at the auxiliary's Mother Day's tea May 13, and the donation came from the proceeds of that, said Legion Ladies Auxiliary president Deborah Smith.

"They helped serve the sandwiches, coffee and tea to all our visitors and cleaned up the tables," said Smith.
