An intoxicated 34-year-old man from Grand Rapids was arrested around 5 a.m. this morning after Thompson RCMP received a report of a man with a gun at the Petro Canada gas station.
Responding officers found an air pistol concealed in the man’s waistband and he was arrested for multiple weapons offences and for breaching court release conditions. Police also determined that he had a warrant for his arrest. He will be remanded into custody later today.
The incident was the second time that RCMP have arrested someone for carrying an air pistol this month.
On Aug. 6, a 28-year-old man was arrested in the middle of the afternoon near Fas Gas after pulling what looked like a handgun out of his pants and displaying it to someone near McMunn & Yates on Station Road. That man was also arrested for multiple weapons offences, including carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a dangerous weapon and using an imitation firearm. He was remanded into custody Aug. 7.
