“Take Care Because We Care” is an apt slogan for Thompson seniors and elders.

The Thompson Community Foundation gave Thompson Seniors Community Resource Council a generous donation of $2,000. The donation was used to help Thompson seniors during this stressful time of isolation during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Forty-four Thompson seniors received two bags containing a caring card and essential nutritious groceries. Assisting with distribution were Thompson Family Foods, which supplied and packed the bags, Boss Auto, which provided transportation of same to the Burntwood Baptist Church for storage, and Rotary Club members for the distribution to seniors and elders.

Seniors are feeling the strain of the pandemic financially, emotionally, spiritually and physically, which reduces our overall sense of well-being and happiness. We are often confined to our homes as we self-isolate to protect ourselves, friends and family members. Isolation, even self-isolation, increases the threat of depression.

It takes a village to raise a child, but it also takes a community to care for its elderly and Thompson can be proud of its willing volunteers who participated in this distribution.
