Former Thompson Progressive Conservative MLA Kelly Bindle has been appointed to the Northern Regional Health Authority (NRHA) board by the provincial government.

Bindle represented the Thompson electoral district from 2016, when he defeated Steve Ashton to end his 35-year-run as the district’s NDP MLA, to September 2019, when he lost his bid for re-election to current NDP MLA Danielle Adams.

Joining him as new appointees to the NRHA board are Linda Markus of The Pas and Diane Russell of Flin Flon.

Angela Enright of Snow Lake and Mary Head of The Pas/Opaskwayak Cree Nation were reappointed to the NRHA board.

Dawn Daudrich of Churchill was reappointed to the board of the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority, which oversees health care in the Northern Manitoba port town.

Health authority board members direct the management and affairs of the regions to ensure the delivery and administration of health services.

“Regional board members are crucial to ensuring the provision of safe, quality care and guide how we move forward to ensure consistent, reliable health services across the province,” said Health Minister Cameron Friesen in a May 29 press release announcing new appointments and reappointments to the province’s five regional health authority boards. “I look forward to working with these new teams and extend my thanks to outgoing board members for the leadership they have provided.”
