Driver without valid licence and unsecured load fails roadside breath test

One man was arrested for impaired driving and another received a 15-day driving suspension in Thompson Feb. 7.

RCMP were called to the Wawatay Inn around 6:30 p.m. Friday after a vehicle was seen hitting another vehicle in the parking lot. A 30-year-old man from Gods Lake Narrows displaying signs of alcohol impairment was identified as the driver of the vehicle that struck the other vehicle. He later provided breath samples that were three times the legal limit and was charged and released to appear in court at a later date.

About three hours later, Thompson RCMP stopped a vehicle with an unsecured load near the intersection of Princeton Drive and Cornell Place. The driver provided a roadside breath sample and failed before later providing a sample just below the legal limit and being issued a 15-day driving suspension. The driver also faces Highway Traffic Act charges for operating a vehicle with an unsecured load and driving without a valid driver’s licence. The vehicle was also impounded.
