RCMP are still awaiting autopsy results before making a final determination whether a woman found dead in Thompson’s Eastwood area died under suspicious circumstances or as a result of a homicide.

The death of a 29-year-old woman found outside on Queen’s Bay in Thompson’s Eastwood neighbourhood Jan. 6 may not have been the result of a crime, police say.

“At this point in time, all signs are indicating that this is not a suspicious death/homicide, but we are still waiting on the autopsy results,” RCMP media relation officer Sgt. Paul Manaigre said in response to an inquiry by the Thompson Citizen.

Thompson RCMP were alerted just before 6 p.m. Jan. 6 about a woman's body outside of a residence on Queen's Bay. Attending officers determined that it was a woman who had been reported missing on the afternoon of Jan. 3

Information posted on social media Jan. 6 said that the woman was Stephanie Munroe-Chartier.

The RCMP Major Crime Unit assisted the investigation.
