CEDF offices shut down in response to coronavirus pandemic

Communities Economic Development Fund (CEDF), the Manitoba Crown corporation that is the lead entity for implementing the provincial Look North regional economic development initiative, is shutting its offices due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Communities Economic Development Fund (CEDF), the Manitoba Crown corporation that is the lead entity for implementing the provincial Look North regional economic development initiative, is shutting its offices due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“In the best interest of supporting best practices when it comes to limiting the spread of the COVID-19 virus, CEDF has made the difficult decision to close our offices to the public until further notice,” said CEDF CEO Oswald Sawh in a March 16 press release. “Although we understand this situation is not ideal, the health and safety of our clients, community, partners and staff members is our highest priority.”

CEDF had ben planning to hold the Northern Manitoba Fish Tables sale event in Thompson March 16 but it was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.

CEDF’s operations will continue online and by phone but in-person meetings will not be held. Commercial fisheries loan applications will continue to be processed. CEDF’s general toll-free line is 1-800-561-4315 and the commercial fisheries loan toll-free line is 1-888-347-4678.
