The Boys & Girls Club of Thompson received a $25,000 grant Oct. 10 from the Canada Post Community Foundation for Children, which provided more than $1.2 million in grants across the country this year to 118 groups that make a difference in the lives of children. The foundation, which was established in 2012, raises money through sales of an annually issued stamp as well as a five-week in-store campaign to solicit customer donations, local employee fundraisers and a year-round employee payroll donation program. The 2019 Canada Post Community Foundation stamp was designed by Chad Roberts Design Ltd., with illustrations by Joanna Todd that show brightly coloured frozen treats strolling hand in hand. It is available at Canada Post outlets and at www.canadapost.ca/shop. The foundation has donated more than $8 million to hundreds of initiatives over the past eight years.
