Bell is launching its 10th annual Bell Let’s Talk Day on Jan. 29. The theme for this year is “Mental health: every action counts.”

Bell Let’s Talk is Canada’s largest-ever mental health program by a Canadian company. On Let’s Talk Day, Bell will be donating five cents to national mental health initiatives for every Twitter tweet and retweet using the #BellLetsTalk hashtag as well as every view of the Bell Let’s Talk Day video at Facebook.com/BellLetsTalk , Instagram.com/Bell_LetsTalk or YouTube.com/BellCanada. Five-cent donations will also be made for every use of the Bell Let’s Talk photo frame on Facebook, every use of the Bell Let’s Talk filter and video view on Snapchat and every text message and mobile or long-distance call made by Bell, Bell MTS and Bell Aliant wireless and phone customers.

Bell says it has exceeded a billion messages in support of mental health programs and raised $100 million as a result over the last 10 years.

“Since we launched in 2010, we have partnered with more than 1,000 organizations providing mental health services throughout Canada, including hospitals, universities and other care and research organizations,” said Bell MTS manager of communications Morgan Shipley. “As an example, this past October, a $25,000 Bell Let’s Talk Community Fund grant was presented in Thompson to HOPE North Recovery Services for youth and regional suicide prevention initiatives, which is facilitated by the Northern Health Region.”

Shipley said that alongside the launch of Bell MTS in Manitoba in 2017, Bell Let’s Talk announced a dedicated fund for Indigenous mental health.

“To date, we have announced five commitments from the fund with donations to Ma Mawi Wi Chi Itata in 2017, Ogijiita Pimatiswin Kinamatwin in 2018, Bear Clan Patrol and Behavioural Health Foundation in 2019 and just this week to Peguis Foundation and SunLodge Village.”
