Bear tranquilized on Elk Bay early Saturday morning

A large bear was tranquilized in the early morning hours July 27 on Elk Bay in Thompson’s Deerwood neighbourhood.

“It came down Riverside, then Lynx, then down Elk Bay, jumped over the neighbour’s gate and was trapped,” said Bruce Cameron, who watched the drama unfold in his neighbour’s yard from behind their fence. “Two conservation officers and three RCMP were taking care of the situation. The RCMP had a shotgun on the bear while the conservation officer tranquilized it.”
