Wolf shot and killed along highway between Thompson and Nelson House

One of three black wolves seen multiple times along Highway 391 between Thompson and Nelson House over the last few months was killed Sept. 5 and Manitoba Sustainable Development is seeking information about the shooter.

The wolf – an adult male – was shot between 8 p.m. and 9 p.m. and left at the side of road, with no attempt made to recover the body or make use of it.

It is believed that the wolf was shot from the road with a rifle.

Anyone with information about this wildlife killing can call Sustainable Development’s Thompson district office at 204-677-6640 or the Turn in Poachers (TIP) line at 1-800-782-0076. Callers do not have to reveal their identities.
