Wolf shot and killed along highway between Thompson and Nelson House

A black male adult wolf was shot and killed Sept.5 along Highway 391 between Thompson and Nelson House, where a family of three wolves had been frequently sighted over the past few month. This wolf was photographed May 26 along that stretch of highway.

One of three black wolves seen multiple times along Highway 391 between Thompson and Nelson House over the last few months was killed Sept. 5 and Manitoba Sustainable Development is seeking information about the shooter.

The wolf – an adult male – was shot between 8 p.m. and 9 p.m. and left at the side of road, with no attempt made to recover the body or make use of it.

It is believed that the wolf was shot from the road with a rifle.
