St. Theresa Point resident charged with manslaughter

On Nov. 28, at around 5:30 p.m., members of the Island Lake RCMP received reports of a 28-year-old male from St. Theresa Point being transported to a nursing station with life threatening-injuries from an assault with a weapon.

On Nov. 28, at around 5:30 p.m., members of the Island Lake RCMP received reports of a 28-year-old male from St. Theresa Point being transported to a nursing station with life threatening-injuries from an assault with a weapon.

Even though the victim was later flown to Winnipeg, he eventually succumbed to his injuries on Nov. 30.

On Dec. 1, the Island Lake RCMP arrested and charged 28-year-old Cheryl Lynn Mason, also from St. Theresa Point, with manslaughter. She was remanded in custody and later appeared in Winnipeg Provincial Court two days later.

The Island Lake RCMP, alongside members of the RCMP Major Crime Unit, continue to investigate this case.
