A 20-year-old Churchill man died Dec. 1 when he crashed his snowmobile into a flat deck semi-trailer in a back alley.

The man was not wearing a helmet at the time of the collision, which was reported to police around 7:30 a.m. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigation determined he was travelling north in a back lane near Kelsey Boulevard when he hit the semi-trailer, which was facing south.

It was the second fatal snowmobile collision of the weekend in Manitoba. On Nov. 30 at 1:15 p.m., Killarney RCMP responded to a collision that killed a 28-year-old man from Prairie Lakes.

The man was travelling northbound on Orillia Street, northwest of Ninette, when it appears he veered off and hit a tree. He was not wearing a helmet at the time and was taken to hospital, where he died of his injuries.

RCMP continue investigating both collisions.
