Province reports lowest number of new daily COVID cases since last September July 13

22 of the cases were from tests conducted yesterday, according to data on the provincial government’s website. That is the lowest number of new daily positive tests since last September. Two previously announced cases were removed from the provincial total for a net daily increase of 23 cases.

Thirteen of the new infections were in Winnipeg, seven in the southern health region and one in the Prairie Mountain health region. The Interlake-Eastern Heath region reported no new cases July 13.

There were four new COVID infections in The Pas/Opaskwayak/Kelsey health district and one in the Thompson/Mystery Lake health district, while one previously reported case was removed from another northern health district’s total.

There are 131 patients in Manitoba hospitals due to the virus, 32 of them in intensive care. There are eight northern residents in hospital due to COVID, two of them in intensive care.Two Manitobans are still in intensive care units in Ontario due to COVID.

One death was announced by the province on Tuesday. 1,163 Manitobans have died from COVID-19 since the pandemic began over a year ago.

The five-day test positivity rate July 13 was 4.5 per cent.
