The provincial government says it expects that COVID-19 vaccine eligibility across the province will be expanded to everyone 18 and over by May 21 and that some people who have received first doses will be able to start booking second dose appointments May 22.

All residents of the Northern Regional Health Authority and Churchill are already eligible to receive COVID vaccines, as is anyone who regularly works in these regions in any job.

First dose vaccination appointments are currently available at the Thompson immunization super site or the urban Indigenous pop-up clinic at the Ma-Mow-We-Tak Friendship Centre by calling 1-844-626-8222 or booking online at https://protectmb.ca using an email address and a health card number. Anyone 40 or older or aged 30 to 39 with priority health conditions can get the AstraZeneca/Covishield vaccine at participating doctors’ offices and pharmacies.

Just over 510,000 vaccine doses have been administered in Manitoba as of May 4.

Manitoba has received 650,640 vaccine doses including 425,880 doses of Pfizer vaccine, 140,500 doses of Moderna vaccine and 84,260 doses of AstraZeneca/Covishield. Another 7,020 doses of Pfizer vaccine are expected to arrive this week.

When appointments for second doses are opened up May 22, people who are immune-compromised or have other prioritized health conditions will be able to book their appointments first. The province says more details on this process will be announced in the coming days.
