Only two northern health districts with new COVID-19 cases July 7

Northern Manitoba had only a handful of new COVID=19 infections July 7, with the region’s total since the pandemic began increasing by four as a result of five new cases and one previously reported case being removed.

Northern Manitoba had only a handful of new COVID=19 infections July 7, with the region’s total since the pandemic began increasing by four as a result of five new cases and one previously reported case being removed.

There were three new confirmed cases of the virus in The Pas/Opaskwayak/Kelsey health district and two in the Shamattawa/York Factory/Tataskweyak/Split Lake health district.

Provincewide, 71 new infections were reported Wednesday, with 32 in Winnipeg, 19 in the Interlake-Eastern health region, 12 in the southern  health region and four in the Prairie Mountain health region.

Two more deaths were reported in Manitoba July 7. The total number of Manitobans who have died as a result of COVID-19 since the pandemic began is 1,154.

There are 147 people in hospital in Manitobas a result of the virus, 33 of them in intensive care. Ten northerners are in hospital as a result of COVID-19, two of them in intensive care.

The five-day test positivity rate in Manitoba was 5.6 per cent on Wednesday.
